Common Questions
How do I verify my student email?
Sign up with your UT email: utexas.edu, my.utexas.edu or eid.utexas.edu. We send a verification link to your inbox; click it and you're verified. Only UT Austin students can list or message on Sub40.
I didn't receive the verification email. What should I do?
Check your spam and junk folders first. The email is from Sub40, and the link opens thesub40.com. UT's mail filtering is aggressive with new senders. If it's still not there, try the magic-link option on the login page, or use the form on this page and we'll sort it out. The form works even when your account doesn't.
How long does listing approval take?
Every listing is read by a person before it goes live, which is what keeps the scams out. We're a small team, so it takes as long as it takes. If yours has been waiting longer than feels right, use the form on this page and ask.
What does Sub40 cost?
Listing and messaging stay free. When your place is taken and you mark it leased, Sub40 collects a $250 success fee from the host. That is the pilot price for this semester. Boost is a separate option that buys placement, not a lease. Rent and deposits pass between the two students and never through Sub40. Boost is placement only, $19 for 30 days. Boost is not open for purchase yet.
Can I edit my listing after posting?
Yes. Open it from My Listings and edit it any time. Substantial changes send it back through review, for the same reason it went through review the first time.
